QUILTING YOUR QUILT
I quilt on a Gammill Statler Ascend. I have a 14′ table and can accommodate up to a King Size quilt. We currently offer Edge to Edge and some custom work on borders and sashing.
Pricing for Edge to Edge is 0.020 per square inch. Custom quilting fees begin at 0.05 per square inch. We do have a minimum charge of $50.00 Our turn around time is currently 2 weeks.
We offer a wide variety of edge to edge patterns and are currently working to get these uploaded to the website. I have a book to browse through or if you find a digital pattern on line, we are happy to split the cost with you (patterns typically run anywhere from $5.00- $16.00 each). We are also happy to help you in choosing the perfect pattern for your quilt!
QUILT TOP PREPARATION:
Be sure that your borders lay flat. Borders that do not lay flat may cause tucks, pleats, or fullness.
Please press the top and back of your quilt and make sure that there are no pleats or tucks pressed in.
Secure all loose threads along edges if needed.
Trim and remove all loose thread tails from the back and front of the quilt. If your thread is dark or contrasts with the top or backing, it may be noticeable in the finished quilt once the stitching compresses the layers together
If your quilt top or backing have a defininte orientation that is not obvious, please identify that on the top of the backing or top of the quilt with a safety pin
Quilt top must be free of embellishments such as buttons, beads, charms, pins, sequins, etc.
QUILT BACK PREPARATION:
The backing should be at least 6″ longer and wider than your quilt top.
(If your quilt top is 100″x100″, your backing should be 106″x106″).
Use a 1/2″ seam allowance for stability if piecing the backing.
If you preshrink your fabric, measure the size after if has been washed and pressed.
BATTING:
I currently use Hobbs 80/20, Warm & Natural and Bamboo batting, 96″ and 110″ $3.00 a linear ft.
You may supply your own batting (please allow an extra 6 inches beyond all sides of the quilt top) If you provide your own batting, please make sure that it is specifically labeled as suitable for machine quilting’.
Please keep all layers separate and do not pin them together as I load each of these layers separately on to my long arm machine.split
